AI can create a logo. But can it deliver a brand?

Let’s address the elephant in the design studio.

AI has made creating a logo easier than ever. With a few prompts, almost anyone can generate something that looks like a professional logo. And honestly? Some of the results are pretty impressive. But here’s the catch: creating a logo image and delivering a professional, print-ready logo are two very different things.

A logo is more than a pretty picture

Your logo needs to work everywhere your business exists: on your website, business cards, brochures, signage, vehicle branding, embroidered shirts and packaging. An image that looks great on a screen might become pixelated when enlarged, lose detail when reduced, or simply not work for certain printing methods. That’s where the technical side of graphic design comes in.

Let’s talk about vector files

If you’ve ever sent a logo to a printer and been asked for an SVG, EPS or vector PDF, you’ll know the struggle of not having the right file. Most AI image generators produce raster images, which are made up of pixels. Vector graphics, on the other hand, use mathematically defined paths and shapes, allowing them to scale without losing quality. Now, some AI tools can generate or convert artwork into vector formats. But here’s the important distinction: a vector file isn’t automatically a professionally constructed logo. Automatically traced artwork can contain messy paths, awkward curves and strange spacing. It may need considerable refinement before it’s suitable for professional production. We can clean up the artwork, refine the details and ensure the final files are appropriate for their intended use.

One logo, multiple formats

When we design logos we offer a professional logo package which includes editable vector files, SVGs for digital and web use, print-ready PDFs, transparent PNGs for everyday applications as well as sized correctly to apply to social media. You may also need full-colour, black, white and single-colour versions, as well as different layouts for different spaces. And then there’s the real-world stuff. Embroidery, vinyl cutting, engraving and different printing methods all have their own requirements.Simply saving one image in five different formats doesn’t mean it’s ready for every application.

The artwork needs to work for the job, not just exist in the right file format.

Also – it’s about more than just the artwork

A good logo isn’t just about looking attractive. It needs to communicate the right message, appeal to the right audience and reflect the business it represents. AI can generate ideas, explore styles and help visualise creative directions. But developing a successful brand identity also involves understanding the business, making considered design decisions and ensuring the final result is distinctive and practical. We send you a detailed brief document before starting with the design to get an in-depth understanding of who you are and what your brand will represent. It’s also worth checking for similarities with existing logos and considering trademark requirements before committing to a design.

The best of both worlds

AI can be a fantastic starting point for exploring ideas. It can help you discover a style you like or communicate a creative direction. We can take that starting point and turn it into something properly developed, refined and ready for real-world use. Sometimes that means rebuilding an AI-generated concept from scratch. Other times, it means using the concept as inspiration for something more distinctive. The goal isn’t to reject AI. It’s to use the right tools for the right job.

The bottom line

AI has made logo creation more accessible, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But generating a logo and delivering a professional logo are not the same service. A brand needs artwork that looks good, scales properly, works across different applications and comes in the formats your business actually needs.Let us help develop your AI logo and bring it to reality in order to deliver an executable brand.
