Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Cape Town (Bellville) for a Graphic and/orWeb Designer. Responsibilities include designing and developing responsive and engaging websites, creating visually compelling digital assets, and ensuring excellent user experience and usability across online platforms. The Designer will collaborate closely with the in-house team, assist in front-end development, and contribute to brand consistency through innovative designs. This role also involves integrating design elements to enhance the performance and effectiveness of client websites and digital materials.

Attention to detail is a must.

This role also entails maintaining our portfolio of websites. If you don’t have the knowledge how to do this, we will teach you.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Web Design and Responsive Web Design to create user-centric and visually appealing websites
• Skills in Graphic Design and the creation of graphics for cohesive branding and digital assets
• Knowledge and experience in Front-End Development to effectively implement designs
• Attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics and layout
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with UX/UI principles and an understanding of user-centered design standards
• Relevant qualification or degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, or a related field

 

Key Responsibilities

• Web Development: Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code to build and maintain websites. Mostly built in WordPress.
• Technical Implementation: Integrate data from various back-end services and databases, and create user interfaces.
• Collaboration: Work with designers, stakeholders, and developers to determine website needs, layouts, and functionality.
• Optimization: Monitor website traffic, test for performance, and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
• Maintenance: Troubleshoot, debug, and update existing sites, including regular backups.

 

Preferable knowledge, but not required

• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and backend languages (e.g., PHP). We work on Apple Mac’s not PC.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to debug and optimise code for speed and scalability.
• Communication: Strong skills for collaborating with team members and gathering project requirements.
